Tijili Seminyak: A Chic Boutique Hotel in Seminyak, Bali, Indonesia

Tradition meets trendy in the charming boutique hotel, Tijili Seminyak. Upon our arrival, the colourful decor with elements of traditional Balinese design instantly caught our eye. It was almost like walking through a modern art studio. Tijili Seminyak truly captures the hip and eclectic vibe of Seminyak with its splash of pastels, interesting art pieces and fabulous furniture.

Tijili Seminyak

A wonderul marriage of modern art and old world charm makes Tijili Seminyak a truly picturesque place to stay. As most millenials would say, the hotel is definitely instagram-worthy. It’s not just a pretty face. The experience we had at the hotel was very personal – from the flowers on our bed and the welcome drinks for our arrival to the smiles from staff during breakfast.

The hotel’s unique name “Tijili” refers to to a Balinese traditional motif that represents the goddess of prosperity and fertility, Dewi Sri. This symbol has been reinterpreted in modern form throughout the hotel – from the crafty logo to the graphic prints throughout the hotel.

Tijili’s Room and Suites

Tijli Seminyak offers a variety of rooms and suites. Jon and I stayed in one of the Deluxe Balcony Rooms, which had an incredible view of the central pool. With its comfortable King size bed, Jon and I easily recovered from our long day of travel from New Zealand. As with the rest of the hotel, art pieces have been carefully selected to decorate the room. We loved the beautiful lamps with stone sculptures and the rustic furniture.

The air conditioned room we had was a contemporary living space with modern comforts such as a flat screen TV, rain shower head (I love this!), a fridge and a safety box. Complimentary toiletries have also been provided in the spacious shower / toilet.

Try to spot the crafty “Do Not Disturb” sign when you stay in this hotel!

Kakatua Tropic Lounge

Nothing beats starting your day with a vibrant display of colours. The Kakatua Tropic Lounge and Restaurant, where we had our buffet breakfast was a delightful place with lots of comfortable seating areas and art pieces in almost every corner. I loved the combination of wooden elements, stonework and glassware used in this area. The attention to detail is exemplary.

The Kakatua Tropic Lounge opens out to an airy outdoor space on one side (with a traditional pizza oven!) and the charming pool area on the other.

The delightful buffet breakfast allows guests to spend a lot of time in this cool area. We looked forward to the freshly-made waffles and the wide selection of tropical fruits each morning. The wide selection of food also allowed us to try some local delicacies apart from the usual bacon, eggs and sausages. For the price you pay for the hotel room, the buffet breakfast is a definite plus.

A Serene Pool Area

The welcoming outdoor pool area stands out with its enchanting green wall and colourful cushions. Lined along the pool are comfortable sun lounges, perfect for those pre-night out cocktails or casual dinner by the pool. It’s also quite a breezy space – a great spot to unwind after a day out.
