Morocco is home to beautiful nature, exotic ancient cities and some and the world’s best food. If you haven’t been there yet maybe this little list of amazing things to do in Morocco will convince you to plan that trip!
Ride a Camel
Camels aren’t exactly the most comfortable form of transport, but there’s something special about riding a camel through the Sahara Desert under the setting sun. You can also ride camels on beaches, but the Sahara Desert, specifically the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, is the best place to do it.

Get Lost in Medinas
Out of all the awesome things to do in Morocco, this would have to be my favourite. From the thousands of tightly packed lanes of the Fez Medina to the surreal blue streets and stairs of Chefchaouen, the mysterious, historic medinas of Morocco never fail to amaze.

Visit Game of Thrones Filming Locations
If you’re a big Game of Thrones Fan, visiting a filming location in Morocco is one of the top things to do. We visited 2 Game of Thrones filming locations in Morocco: Essaouira and Ait Benhaddou. The ancient seaside city of Essaouira is a fascinating blend of nature and architecture, and Ait Benhaddou is the quintessential North African / Arabian mud-brick desert village, which has been featured in many Hollywood productions.

Drive through the Atlas Mountains
Between Marrakech and the Sahara Desert stand the imposing Atlas Mountains — driving through the mountain passes under snow-capped peaks is one of the most scenic things to do in Morocco. The views are spectacular and show just how much variety this country really has.
Sleep in the Sahara Desert
We did this in winter and it was absolutely freezing — it was still an awesome experience though. Groups of 5 or 6 sleep in massive Berber tents after sitting around the campfire and gazing up at the stars — travel doesn’t get much better than that!

Go Shopping
The souks (markets) in Morocco have to be some of the world’s most exotic places to shop. I love shopping and I really enjoyed it in Morocco. You can find pretty much anything in the markets and narrow lanes of most medinas, you’ll have to learn how to bargain if you want a good deal though. Leather goods are the best souvenirs from Morocco. It’s easy to leave with so many items! I bought handbag for myself, wallets for my best friends and a tiny backpack for Jon’s niece.

Visit a Tannery
Don’t just buy the merchandise, know how its made. A feast for the senses, a visit to a tannery is a unique experience you shouldn’t miss while in Morocco. We visited the Chouwara Tanneries located in Fez, one of the largest and oldest tanneries in Morocco.

Go for a Walk in the Rif Mountains
Chefchaouen is surrounded by the rocky Rif Mountains — a relaxing walk past the outskirts of town reveals the laid-back local way of life and some spectacularly rugged scenery.

Spot Goats on Trees
Do goats grow on trees? Absolutely not but in Morocco, you’ll find that these goats love to hang out on the branches of Argan trees. If you’re visiting Essaouira as a day tour, it’s likely that you’ll find this incredible scene.

Sample Moroccan Food
A slow-cooked savoury stew cooked in an earthenware pot, Tajine is one of best dishes we ate in Morocco. My favourite variety of tajine is chicken cooked with lemon and olives. I could eat that every day for the rest of my life and never get sick of it!
For dessert, we recommend the mille feuille, a delicious vanilla and milk custard flavoured pastry. As for drinks, don’t miss the Moroccan mint tea.
This is just a small taste of the things to do in Morocco — there is so much more to explore in this special country and we hope to make it back there sometime soon.
