Have you heard of Koh Kood? It’s an island in eastern Thailand (close to the border with Cambodia) with clear blue waters and fine white sand. It has some of Thailand’s most beautiful beaches, but the best part is that it’s still pretty quiet with hardly any tourists in comparison to islands like Phuket or Koh Phi Phi.
During this trip in Southeast Asia, Jon and I visited Koh Kood twice. We had to go back a second time since we really loved the place. But where’s the best place to stay in Koh Kood? The best beaches on Koh Kood are located on the western side of the Island. We chose to stay at Koh Kood Resort, located at Bang Bao Bay, knowing that in this part of the island the water is calm, the stretch of curved beach is great and the scenery is stunning.
Koh Kood Resort overlooks Bang Bao Bay and offers a secluded feel with its private bungalows and lush gardens. The resort amenities are located at the beachfront – aside from the bar and restaurant, they have comfortable lounge chairs and sunbeds. My personal favourite is the hammock situated right over the water – now that’s unique!
Resort Outdoor Area
Koh Kood Resort has one of the best outdoor areas at Bang Bao Bay. At the front lies the photogenic pier, perfect for photos by the water. There is also a pair of swings here which are located over the water – another great spot! Along the beachfront are lounge chairs and sun beds with enough shade for long hours of relaxation by the water.
Recreational Activities
From snorkeling to kayaking, there are plenty of activities to do in Koh Kood Resort. Jon went snorkeling along the rocks near the resort and saw plenty of fish. We also saw two girls do another interesting activity – stand up paddle boarding. The calm water of Bang Bao Bay is perfect for that.
If you just feel like relaxing all day, the resort offers massage services too. The massage area has a great view of the water so that would be quite good!
Botanical Garden Bungalow
Jon and I stayed in one of the bungalows with a garden view. The bungalow area was very pleasant with lush trees and flowers in bloom.
We had a small private deck on our bungalow with a hammock and chairs. The room was nice and well-ventilated complete with AC and fan perfect for Thailand’s hot weather. The bed was also comfortable and the flat screen TV was great for watching movies and TV shows at the end of the day. Wifi was also available in our room (and almost anywhere in the resort).

Buffet Breakfast with A View
Breakfast was always great at Koh Kood Resort. Apart from the stunning view of the beach, they served a lot of delectable dishes. Omelets, honey pancakes, French toast and fresh fruits – these were some of the things we ate for breakfast. They also had a coffee / hot chocolate machine available. The buffet breakfast was really a perfect way to start the day.
The Deck Bar
The Deck Bar, Koh Kood Resort’s beachfront bar is open most of the day, which is perfect for cocktails, refreshments and snacks. We highly recommend the pepperoni and roast tomato pizza here!
Location: Bang Bao Bay, Koh Kood, Thailand
Bang Bao Bay is one of the best beaches in Koh Kood. There are very few resorts here so it is definitely more peaceful than the other beaches like Khlong Chao. If you are looking for a relaxing spot, choose to stay at Bang Bao Bay.

Beach at Bang Bao Bay
While Koh Kood Resort does not have the best stretch of sand at Bang Bao Bay, it has a great secluded location at the end of the bay. If you feel like exploring the other parts of Bang Bao Bay, everything is just a few minutes’ walk. If you don’t feel like walking, you can kayak or rent a paddle board easily.
Koh Kood Resort’s restaurant offers really good food, but there are also other options along the beach if you want for some variety.
