Bed and Breakfast Hotel Pension Alemana: Affordable Luxury in Cusco, Peru

Bed and Breakfast Pension Alemana - Cusco Peru - Hotel Review

One thing that separates an outstanding hotel from the rest is good service. After a long day of exploring Machu Picchu, there was nothing like coming home to a beautiful hotel – a complex of colonial style houses and a lush garden with colourful flowers. When we entered our room, we had a warm welcome of chocolates and a voucher for 2 pisco sours. Every morning we would wake up to a delicious buffet breakfast and a panoramic view of Cusco. When we came back from sightseeing, we had fruits and refreshments to replenish our energy. We truly had a wonderful stay at Bed & Breakfast Hotel Pension Alemana. There is nothing like European quality with Peruvian hospitality.

Hotel Room and Amenities

Bed & Breakfast Hotel Pension Alemana took a few good years to be finally complete. Today, it has 22 comfortable, clean and cozy rooms (singles, doubles and triples). We had a twin room with a small balcony and garden view during our stay. The room’s windows, even the bathroom window, had wonderful views of Cusco’s historic center. I

Our private bathroom had hot water 24 hours a day, a luxury in Peru. Hot water doesn’t come 24/7 based on what I have read from reviews of other accommodations in Peru. It’s not only the hot shower that made our room great. There was also a heater, another thing you don’t see often in really cold places in Latin America and an air purifier, a life saver for people with allergies like me. Apart from the flat screen TV, it’s easy to find entertainment online with the good wifi available everywhere in the hotel. The room was truly a relaxing escape from the busy city.

Breakfast Room and Café: Siete and Siete

Each day is a day for a special breakfast buffet at Pension Alemana. They have a beautiful breakfast room with great views of Cusco, called Siete and Siete. The delicious breakfast includes freshly cooked eggs (scrambled, fried or omelette), fresh bread, pancakes, salad (olives, avocado and tomatoes), cheese, butter and homemade marmalade. For drinks, they offer coffee, tea and juice. They also have muesli, fruits and yogurt. What a great way to start each day!

Café Siete and Siete is also open for lunch and dinner. They offer different varieties of sandwiches, desserts and drinks. We had dinner there once and came back for dessert another night. The food is very affordable and delicious. Make sure to try the apple strudel with vanilla sauce and ice cream. It’s unforgettable!

Hotel Services

Upon our arrival, we were introduced to the facilities of the hotel. We were given a map of Cusco and shown the locations of some of the attractions of the city.

The hotel has a lot of common areas for guests, including a lovely patio-garden, terraces and balconies with precious views of Cusco’s historic center. The decorations of the hotel reflect the fascinating culture of Peru – from old photos of indigenous people to a one of a kind display of local characters. They also have a refreshments area where guests can have some fruits, coffee, tea and mineral water at no extra cost.

The hotel also offers laundry service, luggage storage and even therapeutic relaxation massages upon request. It is also possible to arrange local tours thought their tour agency, Alemana Tours.

Location: The San Blas Neighbourhood

Bed & Breakfast Hotel Pension Alemana is located in the picturesque neighbourhood of San Blas which lies in the historic center of Cusco. The streets of San Blas are filled with interesting artisan shops, cafés, and restaurants. Given its location, above most of the city, San Blas offers a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Be ready for the few steps you have to climb up. It’s all worth it, though.

Bed & Breakfast Hotel Pension Alemana is only a few minutes away from Cusco’s main square, Plaza de Armas. It is an easy walk downhill and you’ll past some scenic small squares along the way. Other tourist attractions like churches and museums are also within walking distance. If you don’t feel like walking back, taxis are cheap at only 5 Soles (or less) from the main square.
