Scratch Map: A Unique Personalized World Travel Map for Travel Enthusiasts

Scratch Map - Unique Personalized World Travel Map

The world is huge; its extent is vast. Yet, with a map, we can somehow grasp what is beyond what we see. Somehow, the world seems much smaller and going beyond where we are is never too far from our imagination.

For 18 months, Jon and I travelled around the world together. Our journey is special and unique to the two of us so we would like to preserve these memories as much as we can. It is often hard to convey to others where we have been on this journey around the world so it is fitting to trace our tracks with a personalized travel map. We have our  virtual Travel Map but we wanted something that we can hold unto. Scratch Map was perfect for this.

Scratch Map: A Personalized World Travel Map

Created by Luckies in 2009, the Scratch Map offers travel enthusiasts a unique way to record their journey. Made in the UK, each Scratch Map is made of quality laminated paper and features a layer of foil that can be scratched off. Over the years, Luckies has developed different varieties of maps to cater for different traveller needs. Make sure you purchase the original Scratch Map from their website. They offer international shipping that’s fast and affordable.

Scratch Map Deluxe

While the Original Scratch Map is already praise-worthy, the Scratch Map Deluxe surely knows how to steal the scene. Made with black matte paper and copper foil, we instantly fell in love with the design of the Scratch Map Deluxe. It measures 82.5 cm x 59.4 cm, perfect for framing as a room center piece. Jon and I already decided we will hang our finished Scratch Map on our bedroom wall once we have settled somewhere.

The craftsmanship of the Scratch Map is truly commendable. The foil doesn’t come off easily (unless with an eraser, as specified) and the paper’s finishing doesn’t smudge. The details of the writing are also legible so it’s easy to find the different places on the map.

The Scratch Map is so awesome, you shouldn’t leave home without it! With the new Scratch Map Travel, it is now possible to carry a Scratch Map along while travelling.

We chose this Scratch Map so we can carry it along with us in our backpack. It’s small enough. It measures 42 cm x 29.7 cm. It’s light and compact and comes with a small tube so it will stay intact. The details of this map are impressive! At the back, there is space to record our adventures and travel details.

A Map of Our Journey around the World

Over the past few months, we’ve relied on a virtual map to track our journey. Jon is currently travelling in India so I want to wait until we’re together when we can both scratch off the countries we visited in our new Scratch Maps. We will update this post when our Scratch Maps are ready.
