Nahargarh Ranthambore was built like a traditional Rajput hunting palace surrounded by a 16th century style fortress. In the past, maharajas stayed in opulent palaces during hunting season. Nahargarh Ranthambore perfectly recreates a palace near the former royal hunting grounds, Ranthambore National Park. Upon our arrival at Nahargarh Ranthambore, we were instantly blown away by the magnificent architecture. They have truly captured the traditional Rajasthani style in this elegant hotel.
Hotel Services and Amenities
From stunning fountains to grand towers, the majestic architecture extends throughout the whole property. The gardens leading towards the main building (used as the main photo for this post) is my favorite section with its lush gardens and series of fountains. Nahargarh Ranthambore also has two swimming pools and a spa, perfect for relaxing after a trip to the Ranthambore National Park.
From transport to arranging our tiger safari, the hotel staff assisted us in making tour arrangements. Booking the Tiger Safari for the Ranthambore National Park was very helpful to us since booking this tour online was not feasible for foreigners.
Lounge areas were scattered in various parts of the property. The ones at the courtyards are the best ones. The hotel also has a bar and souvenir shop near the reception.
A Hotel Room Fit for Royalty
Jon and I stayed in one of the huge air-conditioned rooms on the ground floor which faced a lovely courtyard. It was breath-taking. This room has got to be the best and biggest room I have stayed at. Nahargarh Ranthambore encapsulated the opulent life of the maharajas. We really felt like royalty!
Our high-ceiling room was furnished with a four-poster bed, a sofa and a dresser. Elements of Rajasthani architecture were also evident in our room — stained-glass windows, elaborate doors and colourful arches on the ceiling. Our favourite part of the room was the balcony which was perfectly cushioned and accented with throw pillows. While there was no TV in the room, we realized didn’t really need it during our stay. Room amenities included a fridge, tea and coffee facility and free Wi-Fi.
Buffet Meals at the Extravagant Dining Room
The extravagant dining room was like one you’d find in a Disney Princess movie. It reminded me of Beauty and the Beast with the many chandeliers and candle holders. The atmosphere here is amazing. The staff is even dressed in traditional clothing.
Buffet meals were served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For breakfast, Western and Indian breakfast options were available. For lunch and dinner a variety of delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian dishes were offered. We loved the chicken korma, paneer tikka, palak paneer and mutton curry. Soup, pasta and noodles were also included in the selection. Juice, tea and coffee were also available. For dessert, the butterscotch ice cream was superb.
Aside from the refreshing welcome drinks, delicious coconut biscuits and fruits awaited us in our room when we first arrived. Before our tiger safari and in the afternoon, we enjoyed some Indian chai and coconut biscuits. We really appreciated the great hospitality.
Location: Ranthambore National Park, India
Nahargarh Ranthambore is located near Ranthambore National Park. It was like an oasis in the vast jungle-y atmosphere of Ranthambore. It is easy to arrange the tiger safari from the hotel. We went by train on our own from Jaipur via Sawai Madhopur to Ranthambore . It was an easy journey by train and auto rickshaw. Book train tickets ahead if you prefer AC coaches.
Nahargarh Ranthambore was closer to the Ranthambore National Park than to the town so there weren’t many restaurants nearby. When you book the hotel, make sure to get the full board option. The meals are great and it’s really not that expensive.
We had a great stay at Nahargarh Ranthambore. Considering our failed attempt to see a tiger, our time at this hotel made our few days at Ranthambore National Park worthwhile. It was a very relaxing place — a haven in this part of India.
