Casa Borbón is a beautiful modern hostel located one block from the main square of Salento. A small, service-oriented hostel, Casa Borbón provides an intimate and relaxing atmosphere for its guests. It is the perfect place to stay in Salento, where you can experience the best of Colombia’s coffee region and the majestic beauty of Valle de Cocora.
Hotel Room and Amenities
“Happy Anniversary!” Casa Borbón gave Jon and me a warm welcome on our 2nd anniversary. We stayed in a beautiful balcony room decorated with a lovely floral arrangement and crafty balloons to celebrate the occasion. It was so nice that they remembered when I mentioned in our reservation that it was our special day.
One of the highlights of our room is the stunning panoramic view of the surrounding mountains from the small balcony. There is no air conditioning unit in the room but we didn’t really need it, thanks to the cool breeze that swept through our balcony. The weather in Salento is perfect! If it gets a little too cold at night, blankets are available in the room. Apart from the comfortable bed, the room also features a flat screen T.V., a study table and chair and a private bathroom with hot water. Wifi is also available in the room, with decent speed. It truly felt like home for the three days we were in Salento.
If you are looking for some social areas, Casa Borbón has a nice outdoor area with chairs and tables with umbrellas. Guests can also hang around in the living room area next to the reception.
Hotel Staff and Services
A warm cup of Colombian coffee will always welcome you at Casa Borbón . Every day the staff offered us drinks and asked us how our day went. Although breakfast is not served at the hostel, complimentary coffee, tea or water is always made available to guests. There are plenty of restaurants near the square and there is also a supermarket close so it’s easy to find breakfast options.
One of the difficulties in Colombia is that most hotel staff only speak Spanish. In Casa Borbón , the staff are bilingual so it’s easy to communicate whether in English and Spanish. They are also very helpful in providing information on the activities that can be done in Salento.
Unfortunately we didn’t meet Pilar, the proud owner of Casa Borbón during our visit, but we are truly grateful to her and the rest of the staff of Casa Borbón for ensuring that we had the best time in the hostel.

Casa Borbón is located just one block away which makes it close enough to engage in different activities yet far enough to get some quiet time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and get a good night’s sleep.
