Nothing compares to a holiday in a place you could almost call your own. Mango Rosa, located near Playa Maderas and Playa Marsella in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua offers beautiful modern bungalows surrounded by lush fruit-bearing trees and multi-coloured flowers. Complete with a garden swimming pool, sports bar and restaurant, this place is an ideal spot for a short visit to Nicaragua’s Pacific coast.
Hotel Room and Amenities
Surprised – this was our reaction when we saw the bungalow in Mango Rosa for the first time. We walked along a beautiful flower garden and we were welcomed by this stunning one storey house with a small porch, kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom. The house is also fully air-conditioned. It was beautiful! Our warm welcome also included a beautiful floral arrangement in the living room area and on the bed spread. It was a charming holiday house in Nicaragua’s San Juan del Sur. (Note that electricity is charged separately so that guests will use energy more efficiently.)
There are plenty of social areas in the resort, including colourful hammock spots, sunbeds by the pool and a lively sports bar slash restaurant. One could easily spend hours just enjoying the comforts in Mango Rosa.
Hotel Staff and Services
We received a heart-warming welcome from the staff at Mango Rosa. We had an early check-in and were provided ample information about the hotel, San Juan del Sur and the activities we could do for the rest of our stay.
Mango Rosa offers a number of tours and activities in San Juan del Sur. They also provide free shuttle service to Playa Maderas several times a day. Private transport to the town of San Juan del Sur is also available for a minimal fee.
Unfortunately we didn’t meet Captain Greg, the proud owner of Mango Rosa during our visit, but we are truly grateful for his prompt responses to our emails and he ensured we had the best time in the resort.
Mango Rosa is located a few minutes’ away from Playa Maderas, considered the best beach in San Juan del Sur. The hotel turned out to be in a good location for us since we really wanted to see this beautiful beach. You could hike to the beach, which takes about half an hour or take the free shuttle service by the resort. Playa Marsella, a quiet beach which had a more local crowd is also fairly close to Mango Rosa. San Juan del Sur, the town proper is only a short ride from the resort. Casa Oro provides shuttles to Playa Maderas for $5 return or you can hire a taxi for $15. Renting a car is another alternative. The area towards Playa Maderas and Playa Marsella is still under development so some parts of the road are rough but don’t let this put you off from visiting these parts of San Juan del Sur.
