Winding alleys, golden sandstone houses and a magnificent fort rising above it all — Jaisalmer is a truly picturesque city in Rajasthan. Upon our arrival at Hotel Pleasant Haveli, we quickly went up the rooftop restaurant to admire this gorgeous scene. Jaisalmer truly deserves to be called the golden city of the Thar Desert and we were glad we get to witness it straight from our hotel.
Hotel Pleasant Haveli
Built like a small haveli, Hotel Pleasant Haveli is a charming boutique hotel in Jaisalmer. The hotel looks very new albeit its style especially the hotel façade retained the traditional intricately carved sandstone that Jaisalmer is famous for.
A Colour-themed Hotel Room
We stayed in one of the nine colour-themed rooms of Hotel Pleasant Haveli. I love the colour purple so I really adored our room. Another thing I loved about the room is the lit up bed. The lighting really sets a relaxing mood in the hotel room. Air-conditioning, a spacious bathroom with double showers, a flat screen TV as well as WiFi connectivity were some of the amenities in the room.
Hotel Service and Amenities
It’s all about the view. At the third floor, seating areas are carefully placed to provide guests an incredible view of the city and the Jaisalmer fort. It was quite hot during our visit it mid-July so we didn’t stay very long here but it would surely be perfect for relaxing.
At the roof top restaurant, even better panoramic views of Jaisalmer awaited us. We were glad the restaurant was open during our stay as it was very convenient and the food (apart from the stunning views) was fabulous here.
Amazing Food at the Rooftop Restaurant
Some of our best meals in Jaisalmer were from the rooftop restaurant in Hotel Pleasant Haveli. It’s really more than just the great view. Some of our notable meals include butter chicken and garlic nan. I miss the food already! If you end up staying else where, enjoy a meal at least enjoy a meal at Hotel Pleasant Haveli’s rooftop restaurant. It’s worth it!
The breakfast included with our room was good too. Every morning, we started our day with a delicious continental breakfast with cheese omelet, butter and toast, juice, tea and fruits.

Jaisalmer is a great city to explore by foot. Nothing is really too far to walk. Hotel Pleasant Haveli is located on a quiet street a few minutes’ walk from most attractions including the Jaisalmer Fort and the old havelis. It is also close to the market and to many restaurants so it’s very convenient for travellers like us who love variety in terms of food options.
